About Us

Our History

Lucy and Tadgh Prendeville, along with Feilim Mac Gabhann and Lucy Gibson founded the Baltimore Bohemians Gaelic Athletic Association in 2003. We began by playing co-ed games of football between club members. Soon after, we formed a competitive men’s football team which competed in the Mid-Atlantic Division and against teams from Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. In our second year we added a ladies football code and by 2009 were competing in camogie and hurling as well.

Our men’s football team won the club’s first Mid-Atlantic Title in 2010 by defeating the Washington D.C. Gaels in a fiercely contested match. Two weeks later, that team went on to win the National Championship. The camogie team won the club’s first National Championship that same year. The men’s football team went on to win National Championships in 2011 and 2012, and would dominate the Mid-Atlantic Division, winning the majority of Mid-Atlantic Football Cups during the last decade. The Lady Bohs returned to the top of the nation’s Camogie scene in 2016 with a second National Championship. The Bohemians Hurling team has won two Mid-Atlantic Championships,  in 2014 and 2016.

The Baltimore GAA is a non-profit that has remained actively engaged in the community, both on and off the pitch.  We partner with the Irish Charities of Baltimore in fundraising events, and we host social gatherings year-round.

By 2014 the Bohemians had settled into their permanent home at Herring Run Park in Baltimore’s Mayfield neighborhood, near Lake Montebello. The Boh’s field at Herring Run Park hosts weekly training sessions as well as home matches and boasts the only proper GAA pitch in the entire Mid-Atlantic Division.

Our Players

The Baltimore GAA is made up of a diverse group of dedicated male and female athletes from Ireland, the United States, and few other places in between. Our playing members range from their teens to their 40’s. While some might spend their weekdays in school (as students and/or teachers), on the scaffolding of construction sites, in hospitals caring for the sick, or at home raising children as stay-at-home moms and dads, when we don the Bohemian jerseys each weekend, we are all equal and united in our cause to be the best teams in the Mid-Atlantic division (and the world.) We believe in creating a fun and inclusive environment where everyone can enjoy the amazing games of Ireland!
